Abstract:
In order to predict the effects of propeller slipstream on the aerodynamic coefficient of wing more quickly and accurately, a method combining the optimal circulation distribution and the actuator disk numerical simulation is proposed. The Prandtl’s optimal circulation distribution analysis method is modified to take into account the effect of the propeller hub. Using the pressure step distribution obtained by different models as the boundary condition of the actuator disk model, the aerodynamic coefficients of a typical propeller-wing combination is calculated by computational fluid mechanics (CFD) method. The results show that the aerodynamic coefficients derived by present modified model are closer to the experimental results than the un-modified or previous models, the relative error of lift coefficient does not exceed 3% and the relative error of drag coefficient does not exceed 20%. And the present method is time saving and independent on the experimental data, it is advantageous to determine the effect of propeller slipstream on the aerodynamic coefficients of the wing in the early stage of aircraft conceptual design.
