Abstract:
In order to investigate the effects of multi-factors,including mass flow rate, combustor geometry(swirler geometry and mixing zone geometry),pre-heating temperature and fuel composition,on combustion induced vortex breakdown (CIVB) flashback,Design of Experiments (DOE) method was adopted for parametric analysis. For the simulation of CIVB flashback,two-dimensional axisymmetric model was used implementing user defined function (UDF) to represent the function of swirler. Through analyzing the results, the successive order of factors affecting CIVB flashback is swirler geometry, mixing zone geometry, preheating temperature, fuel composition and mass flow rate. Wherein, the first four factors have highly significant effects on CIVB flashback. By contrast, mass flow rate and the interaction between any two factors have insignificant and negligible effects. By further investigating,it is found that all the parameters take effect on CIVB flashback through changing flow distribution and flame properties.
