Abstract:
The difference of the combustion characteristic between two propellants which contain boron coated with and without AP was compared and analyzed. The combustion wave temperature profiles and the flame structures of fuel-rich propellant based on boron were measured by using W-Re micro-thermal couple and flame photo technique. The gaseous phase of the propellant burning was divided three subsections according to the trend of temperature change in gaseous phase, and the thickness of every subsection is given. The cause of different temperature change trend in different subsection was analyzed. The surface appearance and element distribution of extinguished samples were analyzed by JMS-5800 SEM. The experimental results of cutaway view of quenched surface photo of the fuel-rich propellant based on boron showed: there was “sediment” covered on the combustion surface and it was suggested that “sediment” is reactionless. The thickness of “sediment” on the combustion surface and the thickness of gaseous phased on the combustion surface are about equivalent. Thus the gaseous reaction undergo in the “sediment”.
